A cinematic promo for Otamatsuri — an anime/otaku festival — bringing its characters to life on Kenyan locations, from lakeside hero frames to golden-hour silhouettes.

01 — The Challenge
Translate a beloved anime aesthetic into live action without it feeling like cosplay — real costume and character work, real locations, and a cinematic grade that earns the fantasy rather than winking at it.

02 — The Approach
- 01
Built the world on real Kenyan locations — lakeside, open country, golden-hour light — grounding a fantastical concept in a tangible, filmable place.
- 02
Committed fully to costume, character and prop detail so the world reads as designed, not improvised.
- 03
Shot for scale and silhouette — sweeping hero frames and backlit sunset compositions that give the piece its poster moments.
- 04
Graded warm and filmic to bind the whole promo into one cohesive, cinematic look.

03 — The Result
The film became the official face of Otamatsuri 2026 — released on the organiser Movie Jabber's channel as the festival's anchor promo ahead of the 22 August event at The Carnivore Grounds, Nairobi. Every frame was shot in Kenya with Kenyan cosplayers and prop-makers, and the stills now power the festival's wallpapers, countdown and community hub on this site — proof the studio can build a fully realised cinematic world, end to end, on Kenyan soil.
