Compare production, agency fees and advertising spend. See Nataka's monthly content range and the questions to ask before approving a social media budget.
Social media marketing costs in Kenya depend on what the agency is responsible for: creating the content, publishing it, handling conversations, buying advertising or managing the whole process. A price is only useful when those responsibilities are clear. At Nataka Inc, our Social Content Engine is listed at KES 150,000–700,000 per month. That is our indicative package range, rather than an average for the Kenyan market or a fixed quote for every business.
This guide helps a company compare proposals on the same basis. It covers the budget lines, a practical scope checklist and how to connect expenditure to the business result you want.
Separate the three main costs
1. Strategy and management
This is the work behind the account: understanding the buyer, planning content, writing copy, arranging approvals, publishing and reviewing performance. Ask how many channels are covered and who handles comments and direct messages. A proposal for a content calendar alone is different from one that includes daily community management.
2. Content production
Filming, photography, talent, locations, editing, sound, graphics and adaptations can materially change a quote. Specify shoot days, finished video quantities, approximate durations and formats. Eight original videos and eight resizes of one video are different deliverables. Confirm whether captions, thumbnails and revisions are included.
3. Advertising spend
Media spend is the money used to distribute ads through a platform. It is a separate budget decision from paying a team to create and manage the campaign, even when both appear in one proposal. Ask who pays the platform, what management costs apply and what access your company retains to the account. Do not assume paid media is included in a content package.
What Nataka's monthly content package covers
Our published Social Content Engine describes a monthly shoot day, 8–20 short videos, captions and content direction, a content calendar and a performance review. The final quantity, production complexity, platform responsibilities and costs are agreed in the written scope. Our social media marketing service can bring production and distribution together when the brief calls for it.
A product business may need demonstrations, customer questions and offer-led edits. A corporate service company may need leadership interviews, explanations of its process and material its sales team can use. Both need content; they do not necessarily need the same shoot, review process or platforms.
Additional services such as community management, advertising, creator involvement and usage rights must be discussed explicitly. The package page is a starting point for a conversation, not permission to assume every possible service is included.
A checklist for comparing agency quotes
- Objective: Is the work intended to build awareness, explain the offer, generate enquiries or support a launch?
- Production: How many shoot days, original videos, images and adaptations are included?
- Channels: Which accounts are covered, and are publishing and moderation included?
- Distribution: What is the media budget, and how are platform charges and management fees shown?
- Approvals: Who signs off, how many review rounds are included and what happens if the brief changes?
- Rights and access: What may your company reuse, for how long, and who controls the accounts and files?
- Reporting: Will the report distinguish views, enquiries, qualified leads, proposals and sales?
Use that list to request missing details rather than treating a longer deliverables list as automatically better. A narrow, well-run scope can be more useful than a broad promise with no accountable owner.
Budget for the path from content to a customer
Creating a good video does not complete the sales process. A prospective buyer still needs an understandable offer, a working destination and a timely response. Allocate responsibility for your enquiry form, WhatsApp handling and sales follow-up before distribution starts. Our guide to qualified Facebook leads in Kenya explains how those steps fit together.
Judge affordability using the contribution a customer brings after delivery costs, rather than revenue alone. Track acquisition costs and actual paid customers. A cheap form submission is poor value when it never becomes a relevant conversation; an expensive-looking production is also poor value if it does not serve the agreed objective.
What to send for a useful quote
Send your company name, website, target buyer, the product or service you want to sell, preferred start date and a working budget for agency services. State whether you already have footage, a marketing team and an advertising budget. Include the person responsible for approving the work.
For monthly work, explain what is not working today: too little content, weak creative, inconsistent publishing, low-quality enquiries or a slow response process. Those are different problems and may require different scopes.
Review Nataka's packages or discuss a monthly social content engagement. We will agree deliverables and costs before the project starts.
